Where We Come From.
MFI was born in Portland, Oregon in 1987, when Pastor Dick Iverson saw something critical missing for independent church leaders — covering, accountability, and genuine connection. Not control. Community.
In 1988, missionaries Lew and Marion Peterson brought that vision to East Africa. What started as a small fellowship has grown into a network spanning six countries — Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, DR Congo, and South Sudan — touching thousands of pastors and churches.
The work has never been about building an organisation. It has always been about building people.
Why We Exist.
To nurture real relationships between ministers. To equip them to be more effective in their calling. And to help them build strong, healthy, multiplying local churches — not just anywhere, but right where they are.

The Leadership Team (ALT) provides vision, direction, and oversight for the entire fellowship. They guard doctrinal integrity, set the agenda, and hold the network together — with humility and accountability at the centre.
